Special Times

People often think of life as a journey.  Sometimes on that journey we come to a turning, where life suddenly changes or we find the path leading in a different direction.  This might happen when having children, getting married or when we lose someone we love.  If you would like to mark such an important moment in life with a church service, please contact the Vicar to find out more.

BAPTISMS

Baptism (often called a Christening) is a way of giving thanks and welcoming people into God’s worldwide family .  Through baptism we belong to God, we are members of the family of the Church, and we begin a new journey with Jesus.

Anyone can be baptized, no matter how old or young, as long as they haven’t been baptized before.

Baptisms normally take place on Sunday mornings at 10am during an informal 'Worship for All' service, unless the family asks for the baptism to be in the context of a communion service.

To book a baptism you are invited to come along to a Worship for All service on the first Sunday of the month at 10am.  After the service, a member of the pastoral team will take your details over coffee.

WEDDINGS

We are always delighted when people choose to get married at St Denys.  To be entitled to get married in the church you need to live in the parish, or be on the electoral roll, or have a significant connection to the church.  If you are not sure if you qualify then please contact the Vicar

For further information about getting married in church visit the Church of England's Weddings website here.

It is also possible to have a blessing of the marriage in church after a civil ceremony and a renewal of wedding vows at any stage.

Banns

If you are getting married in another church but are resident in the parish of St Denys, you need to have a banns certificate.  Please
contact the Vicar to arrange this.

FUNERALS

The Vicar at St Denys is available for funerals both in the church and at Gilroes Crematorium.  Although the churchyard is closed for new graves, there is a Garden of Remembrance where ashes can be interred.

Contact the Vicar for more information.
